After the successful staging of the maiden edition of the Dolphin Swimming League, the season two of the inter-schools tournament kicked off on Saturday November 17 at Grange School, Ikeja.

Aside from the host – Grange School, more schools have now identified with the tournament with schools like Greensprings, Grenville, Indian Language School, Lagos Preparatory School, Lekki British School, St. Saviour School, Children International School and a Lagos State assembled team competing this weekend.

According to the initiator of the league, Oluseyi Oyebode, more schools have decided to be part of the tournament following the success and glamour that were witnessed in the maiden edition.

“We are so excited with the overwhelming support we have been getting from the Nigeria Aquatics Federation, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) and the Lagos State Swimming Association which culminated in the success of the maiden of the edition and now schools have come realized that what we are doing will help their wards and that is why we now have more schools coming on board. This second season hopes to be exciting and competitive as the students are eagerly looking forward to the kick off this week. The responses from the schools have also encouraged us to be creative in our approach this year. We will also ensure we keep to our rules of not allowing over-age swimmers to compete and encourage more young swimmers to have the opportunity to compete against their contemporaries,” Oyebode said.

For the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Advanta Interactive Global Limited – marketing firm of the tournament, Efe Ojigbede, efforts have been made to have more sponsors on board this season.

The Executive Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Kweku Tandoh and President of Nigeria Aquatics Federation, Babatunde Fatayi-Williams are to open the season two with parents and guardians expected to be around to cheer their wards during the one-day swimming fiesta.
