From the six schools that featured in week one of season four of the annual Dolphin Swimming League, two have signed up for the first school swimming league in Nigeria.
The schools – Priory Preparatory and Italian International School decided to team up and challenge the likes of Grange School St Saviour’s, Greensprings School, Children International School, Lagos Preparatory and Secondary School, and Riverbank School who competed in week one of the competition.
Already, the Nigeria Aquatic Federation, Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) as well as the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) have sanctioned the tournament with the aim of selecting outstanding swimmers from it for major competitions within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Grange School will host week two of the competitions and the school will be hoping to consolidate its dominance of week one
The league is organized by Dynaspro Promotion and Advanta Interactive with the aim to unearth talents for Lagos and Nigeria.
According to the CEO of Advanta Interactive Efe Ojigbede, the enthusiasm from week one has shown that the tournament continues to grow in leap and bound.
“I am so excited with the turnout of students as well as their parents and guardians for week one. The excellent performance from the students coupled with the good environment as well as the smooth organisation by the host has prompted us to award week two to Grange School. We believe this will encourage more schools to be part of the championships as there are plans by the Nigeria Aquatic Federation to select swimmers that will represent the country in regional competitions from the event. We are hoping that for every edition, we will continue to break new grounds and more stars will emerge from the tournament,” Ojigbede said.
